Unicornia

Unicornia is home to the Unicorns, located on the western end of the continent. It is built on one big mountain, with Castle Sweet at the peak. A monarchal society, it is ruled by the Sweet family. Its current ruler is Queen Sugar-Pearl Dusk.

The entire country is covered in snow most of the year. Near the bottom of the mountain, the snow tends to melt more, and there are trees. However, agriculture is entirely impossible on the mountain. Unicorns trade magically-manufactured tools, gems, books, art, and other luxury goods to Earth ponies in exchange for crops and building materials (wood from their forests, stone from their quarries).

Unicornia has been at war with the Cloud Empire since time immemorial. This war does not seem to be stopping anytime soon. In fact, it'll probably get worse.


Aesthetic

Regions and "Rings"

Unicornia is separated into four "rings" on the mountain. The highest ring is solely occupied by Castle Sweet, and inhabited by the royal family and castle staff.

Below Castle Sweet is Saint's Spring. This ring is inhabited by the aristocracy, and has direct access to the Saint's Spring, where all magic flows from according to legend. Along with Castle Sweet, which isnt much higher in elevation, this is the coldest region of Unicornia. The mountain's peak is permanently covered in snow.

Just below Saint's Spring is Crafthome, where most of the artisan and merchant unicorns reside.

The last and largest ring has no single name. The majority of the unicorn population live near the base of the mountain, in tight communities of rowhouses and apartments with narrow winding streets between.

Notes

  • Unicorns are monotheistic. They believe their magic (and their horns) trace back to a singular original pony who learned to harness magic and thus grew a horn. This pony, commonly referred to as the Saint, blessed the spring near the peak of the mountain and afterwards, the ponies who drank from it became unicorns. Whether or not this is true is unknown. No non-unicorn has ever been allowed to drink from the Saint's Spring.
  • Unicornian borders are very strict. Non-unicorns are not allowed inside.
