Sirocco

Sirocco is a commander in the Cloud Empire's army. He's a minor aristocrat. He is the assigned chaperone of Cloudy Daydream, an Earth pony historian.

Appearance

Sirocco is a dark blue Soarer-type Pegasus pony with a strong build. His wings have darker blue feathers, and his hooves are a slightly darker blue than that. He has fluffier fur on his chest, tufts on the tips of his ears, and unshorn feathers on his hooves.

His mane is long and wavy, the same shade of dark blue as his wings, with light whitish-blue streaks. He keeps it tied up in a bun with a silver beaded cuff, but leaves a long piece at the base of his neck free. His tail is similarly tied at the base with a silver cuff. (Hair accessories like this are common among Pegasi).

His head is more of a G4 stallion shape, with a generally more masculine build overall. He is considered very handsome for a Pegasus. He has a mustache and thick eyebrows, as well as sideburns. His expression is usually stern or annoyed. He has dark brown eyes, with one pointed eyelash beneath.

His Cutiemark is a silver diamond between two swirls of white cloud and blue water.

His ankle heart is dark blue.

Personality

Sirocco is, in many ways, a tired old war veteran. The fact that he's not actually that old has no bearing on his personality. He's grumpy, distant, difficult to talk to. He spends as much time alone as he can. He lacks a particular passion in life, as his special talent isn't so much something he enjoys as it is a skill in battle that he's effortlessly good at (manipulating clouds and wind to his advantage with whirlwinds).

He won't admit it to himself, but he does like Cloudy Daydream. His enthusiasm for Pegasus culture mirrors Sirocco's own patriotism, and that totally honest love is hard to be mad at. Even if it feels excessive most of the time.

Biography

Sirocco was born to a minor aristocratic family, with ties to the Emperor. As such, he rose through the ranks to become a commander rather quickly, but no one would ever think of him as a useless rich boy. Rather, he is extremely competent in battle and excellent with a spear. He has been awarded medals by the Emperor himself.

Which is why it baffles him that he's stuck babysitting Cloudy Daydream. He thinks himself above it, and for good reason. But really, he's just the only responsible pony available for the job. He's not a war hero or needed for active duty, and the Emperor trusts him. The Empire's relationship with the Earth ponies is too important to risk. Sirocco's levelheaded attitude and quick reflexes are essential to keep Cloudy Daydream safe in the cloud city.

They live together, in housing provided by the Emperor. Sirocco accompanies Cloudy Daydream on all his excursions to see Pegasus relics and talk to experts. Cloudy Daydream wants to be his friend, but Sirocco tries to keep him at a professional distance. He calls him "Dreamer", as an insult-- somepony so obsessed with Pegasi must want to be one, and that's impossible.

Notable relationships

• Cloudy Daydream: He's so sick of this guy. Its a ridiculous assignment, following around a helpless fanatic. In time, they will be good friends, even if Sirocco doesn't act like it.
