Cloudy Daydream

Cloudy Daydream is an Earth pony living in the Cloud Empire. Though not technically a citizen, he is allowed entry as a visiting historian, and allowed to study in the Royal library. However, he must be under constant Pegasus supervision, so he is always accompanied by Sirocco.

Appearance

Cloudy Daydream is a pale orange Earth pony of average size. He has cream-colored markings: on his back legs, freckles, and a blaze. He has long feathers on his ankles, with brown hooves (slightly lighter brown on his back legs, due to the white socks).

His mane is orange with a yellow-white fringe in the front, slicked back with a big poof on top and reaching the base of his neck in the back. His tail is relatively long, the same orange with a yellow-white stripe.

Due to his friendly personality, he has big bright blue eyes that give an impression of wonder and interest. He has one eyelash on the top lid and 4 smaller lashes on the bottom. He's usually smiling. He has a bit of scruff on his chin, which should not be rendered as a full goatee. He is usually wearing a long white scarf.

His Cutiemark is an orange sun between two white clouds.

His ankle heart is pale red.

Personality

Cloudy Daydream is overbearingly friendly. He loves to talk with strangers and is prone to infodumping, but also will listen patiently to someone who knows more than him on a subject relating to Pegasi.

He's interested in all things Pegasus. In fact, he might be more knowledgeable about Pegasus history and obscure cultural facts than some actual Pegasi are. This is annoying to actual Pegasi, but for the most part he's harmless. He has a degree in Pegasus history from an Earth pony university. He'd call himself an enthusiast as much as a historian.

Living with Earth ponies, he becomes extremely depressed and has a difficult time assimilating back into his home culture. In a way, he doesn't fit in anywhere.

Biography

Cloudy Daydream was born in Apple Valley in the Earth territory. His father was a very successful merchant, and Cloudy Daydream came with him to the trading town Windswept occasionally. In Windswept, he saw Pegasi for the first time. He became enamored with the culture and as soon as he was able, he moved to the nearest land-based Pegasus town: Feather Fjord.

He was one of very few Earth ponies there, and operated a small shop with his father's goods. However, he was unsatisfied being treated like a part of a separate community within the town and wanted to live among Pegasi more closely. While in town, he learned of Cloud-Walk potions that would allow an Earth pony to enter the parts of town off the ground. It was expensive, and no one seemed to use it for long periods of time, but the effects lasted a relatively long time.

Cloudy Daydream used the potion to explore Feather Fjord to his heart's content, but grew tired of the small town. He soon moved to the capital city of Cloudfort.

This was not without difficulty; not a single Earth pony had ever been to Cloudfort at the time, as it was completely off the ground. But by taking Cloud-Walk potion once a week, Cloudy Daydream was able to enter the city. The Emperor, suspicious of his motives, ordered that a chaperone accompany him at all times, and assigned a trusted member of the Pegasus army to watch him, Sirocco. They live together and Sirocco assists him in visiting Pegasus historical sites and contacting Pegasus historians to speak to. Its an ideal situation for him.

Notable relationships

• Sirocco: Cloudy Daydream thinks he's the most perfect pegasus to ever exist, like a statue. In time, they will be good friends, even if Sirocco doesn't act like it.
