Appearance

Jonagold is a tall Earth pony stallion with a palomino coat, and a lighter beige underbelly and legs (which is called a splash marking). Natural horse marking like this are common among Earth ponies. He has a star-shaped beige blaze, and a darker nose. His hooves are brown, and covered with fluffy feathers.

His mane and tail are both pale blonde and short. He has thick eyebrows and a friendly expression. His eyes are green, and under his right eye, there are two scars. He has a small scruffy beard. By Earth pony standards, he's considered handsome.

Normally he wears a green and white checkered bandana, and gold stud earrings. He has one gold tooth.

His Cutiemark is a foaming mug of cider with a red apple on the side.

His ankle heart is palomino.

Personality

Jonagold is a hardworking, honest stallion. In Apple Valley, he's rather well liked and respected, and everyone knows his name within the Earth territory's farming towns. He is sometimes lets this get to his head, and is maybe a little self-centered.

He is, however, fairly lonely. After his divorce, he hasn't found love again and doesn't enjoy spending too much time on his own. Spending time with his daughter Pink Lady makes him feel better, but he has split custody with his ex-wife Prairie Heart so she isn't with him in Apple Valley half the time. Jonagold is not exactly happy with the situation, but there's nothing he can do about it.

Biography

As a member of the Apple family, he's spent his whole life on the farm. He learned to make apple juice as a teen, and in experimenting with fermentation he developed a new cider formula and earned his Cutiemark.

He was once married to Prairie Heart, a member of the Cherry family. However, they divorced several years later. He stayed in Apple Valley while she returned to Cherrywood, and their daughter Pink Lady splits her time between them.

Notable relationships

  • Prairie Heart: He still carries a torch for her, but she can't stand him. He's never seen a more beautiful mare.
  • Pink Lady: He worries she might like spending time with her mother more than with him. He's very proud she got an apple Cutiemark and not a cherry one.
  • Georgie: Absolutely hates him. Jonagold thinks he's not honest or trustworthy and resents the fact that he's on the council.
