Matryoshka

Matryoshka is a pegasus pony living in the Earth Territories. She is currently working as a spy for Unicornia, with orders to kill every pegasus soldier she comes across. She has no specific home, travelling from tavern to tavern on the Queens Road hunting for her next prey.

Appearance

Matryoshka is noticably thin. She has long limbs and neck, an elegant way of carrying herself. Her coat is a light pale coffee brown, with lighter markings on the tips of her ears and her hindquarters (which have small flecks of darker brown on them). Her face is also light, but this may only be makeup. Her hooves are dark brown.

Her mane is two-toned brown and wavy texture. She wears it over one eye, with the back up in a high ponytail. Her tail is kept tied with a thin bow, and long enough to nearly touch the ground. Her mane has volume, but her tail is fairly thin. She wears pearls in her ponytail.

She has songbird wings with soft fluffy feathers. They're long and thin, manicured to be a certain elegant shape. However, this is an illusion; there are songbird feathers tucked in over her natural soarer feathers, which are sharper and more efficient for flight.

She is considered very beautiful by earth pony standards. For pegasi, she's not quite fitting the "songbird" beauty standards, but pretty close. It's sort of like being in drag. She has a coy, flirty expression usually. There's a beauty mark under her left eye. She wears powder, eyeshadow, and rouge.

She typically wears long lacey/ruffled sleeves on her forelegs, a collar tied with a bow on her neck, and a bow on her tail. In addition, she has jewelry with bells on her wings, which ring when she's dancing.

Her Cutiemark is a matryoshka doll opening to reveal a four-pointed star..

Her ankle heart is dark brown.

Personality

Matryoshka is a spy and a performer. As such, her true personality is hidden under many disguises. She is most often percieved to be elegant, vain, and openly flirtatious.

In truth, she is a very scared pony. She fears being trapped or pinned down by any means, and copes by staying on the move. She has no issue killing, as long as it means she goes free. She trusts nopony, and nopony should trust her.

Biography

Matryoshka was an orphan. She's never seen the Pegasus cities, and lived on her own in Castle Town on the Earth territory border. At a young age, Matryoshka was taken prisoner by Unicornian guards. She'd snuck into the lowest ring of the city, in an attempt to steal clothes from Unicorn shops. After a year or so in the dungeons, often spent in a small dark cell by herself, she was offered a choice: execution or enlistment. She didn't know what that meant at the time, but wanted to live, and so was drafted as a spy.

She was trained in various disciplines to be able to fit into the Earth territory as a travelling performer. She can sing, recite a selection of Pegasus and Earth pony poetry, play instruments, and dance, though she's best at dancing. She never spends more than a week in the same tavern, and never more than two weeks in a single town.

Meeting Dovesong and Silver Medallion

The protagonists cross paths with her in a small town on the Queensroad. At first, nothing seems amiss, but Dovesong grows suspicious of her when Matryoshka starts paying too much attention to Silver Medallion. Part of that is jealousy, but it also seems conspicuous for her to be so interested in the only Pegasus war hero in the building. Upon some investigation, Dovesong uncovers her apparent intentions and confronts her. This results in a fight, which Matryoshka thinks she can win due to her Unicornian training. But Dovesong wins, killing her in the process.
